![]() However, Sifu has made me question that criteria, as finishing the game was not enough to make me feel like I enjoyed it as a whole. Normally, I know if I enjoyed a game if it kept me hooked until the end. Maybe I never really enjoyed the game, and just wanted to be able to say that I beat the final boss for the sake of bragging rights and clout. Maybe I'm in a toxic love/hate relationship with Sifu, where I can't help but love it no matter how much it hurts me. Maybe Sifu does the same thing as crappy phone-game skinner boxes to keep me playing long after I stopped having fun, but instead of crappy skinner boxes Sifu does this using good design and tantalizing challenge. I've been thinking about this a lot and am really not sure what to think about it. I spent more time on it than any game in the past year, and even after getting to the end, I replayed it a dozen more times. The system itself was smart and tight, but I just couldn't really ever find it as enjoyable as many of the other games that it takes inspiration from. Every time I played the game, I wish I was playing with the parry mechanics of Sekiro, or the freeform combat of the Arkham series. I found the reruns tedious, the age mechanics annoying, and the combat system as a whole to be, while very intricate and well-designed, just on the verge of unenjoyable. However, looking back, I feel like I didn't like it.Īs I've been thinking about the game, hearing people talking about it and listening to all the positive reviews, I realized that I share almost none of the same feelings. I learned all the intricacies, memorized all the movesets, and kept on getting pulled back into it day after day after day until I finally felt satisfied. Its the first game in years that has kept me up until 5am trying to beat it. It took hours of runs and reruns until I was exhausted. So, a few days ago, I finally finished Sifu to the best of my ability: True Ending, Final Boss, age 20. ![]() r/CoOpGaming - A community for co-op gaming r/xboxone - Xbox-specific subreddit for general Xbox news and discussion r/playstation, /r/PS4 & /r/PS5 - PlayStation-specific subreddits for general PlayStation news and discussion r/pcgaming - PC gaming-specific subreddit for general PC gaming news, discussion and gaming tech support r/nintendo - Nintendo-specific subreddit for general Nintendo news and discussion r/shouldibuythisgame - Find out what's worth getting. r/gamingsuggestions - Go here to help you find your next game to play r/gaming4gamers - Discussion, bar the Hivemind Top-level comments must be at least 100 characters in length.Accounts must be at least one month old.External Links must follow these guidelines No topics that belong in other subreddits This subreddit shouldn't be used for advice of any kind.
